Political parties serve the interests of various factions of the social elite. This elite uses the existing political system to exclude the interests of others. If government is viewed as a learning system, the increase in participation resulting from a random selection system would result in a significant general rise in socio-economic awareness over time. A random selection system would also result in 50% of parliment being constituted of women.
