With my degree in communication, I have led a communication-focused career for the past 20 years, and believe that effective communication is the starting place for success. My volunteer experience with the Fulton Animal shelter, and select projects throughout the years with businesses in econically vulnerable communities, as well as projects with the Board of Ed (NYC) have enriched me as a person and societal contributor. I hope to bring my skillsets to the Advisory Council and be part of a winning team.
Kimberly Height

As a parent of a senior and a freshman at Arabia Mountain High School (AMHS), I've been able to build relationships with the staff, students and parents through my volunteerism and years at the school. Although everyone has various perspectives, we all ultimately want to increase our children's achievement and performance at AMHS. Also, as a business owner, I've been a business/community partner at AMHS for a few years. Therefore, because of my involvement as an AMHS parent and business/community partner, I have unique qualifications that makes me a great candidate to serve on the Principal Advisory Council.
Kirste Young

Education the foundation of it all; whether formal school or live time life; education is the great equalizer. As a mother of four I have served on various education boards and committees, including PTA’s, PAC’s and community groups. I’ve served as PTSA President, Vice President and Parliamentarian. I get excited in libraries and educational settings where information is being shared about resources and opportunities available for our students to position themselves for success. I have spoken at multiple DCSD Board meetings as well as before our state elected officials. I welcome the opportunity to serve and support AMHS.

Ashley Bolt

This is my second year as a Briarlake parent. Growing up in a family of public school educators, I’ve seen the benefit of a connected school community. If elected, I hope to help streamline communication between school leaders and the community in hopes of everyone knowing exactly where to turn for up-to-date, thorough, accurate information. As an attorney practicing intellectual property law (who sees the global impact of STEM), I would support and hope to grow the STEM program. I would also advocate for continuing to diversify our educational offerings, including exploring additional special programs and after school offerings.
Bailey Coffer

I believe BES students deserve exceptional educational opportunities, and I will be an advocate for excellence. I hold a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Specialist degree in Education from Mercer University. My father taught for 40 years in Georgia high schools, technical colleges, and correctional system. My mother is a veteran lobbyist for public education and served on our local board of education. Like them, I am passionate about public education and I know that schools are only as successful as the support they receive from the families they serve.
Noy Hawkins

I have served the past two years as a PAC Parent. The second year, I served as PAC Chair in hopes of creating process and set baseline expectations for future Briarlake PAC leaders. I would be happy to serve again and support our amazing school.
Sean Mann

I have a background in education and public health and served on the PAC for the last two years. During this time, I also worked with Mrs. Black as a volunteer coach for the Briarlake Robotics team.

Being able to be aware of the school's concerns/issues or development, then be able to participate with the resolutions whenever needed/applicable, is a priviledge for us parents. I will serve with my best effort as before, if chosen again. However, whether it's me or another parent gets elected, I will continue to be supportive however I can. Afterall, doing so is a part of our responsibility as parents anyways. Good luck to us all!

I believe that we are failing our students. I believe our focus should be more on getting and keeping our kids engaged in academic and athletic activities so as to reduce the temptation for them to engage in negative activities. Students need active participation not just in both academic and athletic activities. Being in an academic club or on a athletic team but not actively participating in the activity is more demoralizing and detrimental than it is encouraging because by not actively involving them in the activity the feel as if their potential is limited.

I am a native and proud graduate of DeKalb County School District. My volunteer and service experience began early. I served in several community organizations in high school, such as Delta Gems, B.E.L.L.E.S., and Best Buddies. I continued volunteering and working with youth, while attending Spelman College, by serving as a Girls Scout troop leader, Tutor for the Ryan Cameron Foundation, and counselor at a summer camp. I have devoted my life’s work to being an educator. I taught math for 10 years and I have continued to serve the district in the capacity of school improvement.
Lillian Haley

For a school year, I bypassed my local elementary school in Brookhaven, driving an extra 16 miles to DESA. This choice ensured my children experienced an excellent academic environment where they were not the only Black students. DESA's impact on their growth is evident. With new leadership, this year marks a transformative period for DESA. I aim to amplify all stakeholders' voices - administrators, educators, staff, parents, and students - using my 10+ years as a Ph.D. researcher in Applied Social and Community Psychology. My research experience equips me to support DESA's evolution informed by data and inclusive perspectives.

I am a licensed therapist and specialize in maternal mental health. I have been working in my small private practice here in Dunwoody for 15 years. While my children were in elementary school I served/volunteered as class parent for many many years. Now that they are both at Dunwoody High School I would like to spend my volunteer time working collaboratively with other parents to provide input and ideas on new polices and projects and use my voice to be the liaison to other parents. I would be thrilled to be a part of the DHS PAC and community.

My background is in healthcare technology and education. I am an advocate for my son who is a student that requires additional accommodations to succeed in school. I have faced many hurdles through our journey to receive the attention that is legally and morally required for him to receive an appropriate education. I feel there is a need to make sure no student falls through the cracks. Communication and teamwork with parents and school administrators is paramount. Being on this council would provide the school with a perspective from an often underserved population.

I am committed to the success of this school.

Serving the community is such a fulfilling experience and is honestly the core of a thriving community. I learned this at an early age, when I used to see my mother and father volunteer in DeKalb county for all five of their children's schools. With this background experience amongst my many years of helping veterans at MedShare, or starting a non-profit with my siblings, I would love to extend my knowledge and support to the same school system that raised me, challenged me, and groomed me to be the person I am today.

I took a couple of years off due to work duties and volunteer obligations elsewhere, but would love to get involved again as my younger child finishes out her time at Pleasantdale.

I'm a proud dad of a new sixth grader at TMS and want to be a resource to assist the principal and staff position our kids to succeed. I've previously volunteered on committees at Midvale Elementary, and my law practice involves counselling educators and schools at all levels on a variety of issues. PAC members aren't acting in the same role, of course, but an understanding of education law is helpful in trying to understand what challenges TMS and its principal may need to be thinking about.
