Candidacy Statement:

Hello,
My name is Corby Anderson and I am seeking your nomination in district 4. I have ben a a member of CKO since 2013. So, why I do I feel I have a lot to offer the CKO and the members in my district? I believe more than ever that kinesiologists play a critical role in getting people not only active by more independent. The pandemic has taught us all that there is a need to work across different healthcare sectors to achieve overall wellness. I believe that I can advocate for that as I have had the opportunity to work across may sectors in my career, both a Registered Kinesiologist and an Athletic Therapist. Currently, my I am working in the college setting using my skillset to not only minimize injury in the workplace and enable employees to have a better work-life balance. This requires me to work with various parties and stake holders to minimize risk and adhere to polices outlined by the college. Since, the CKO's primary provide practice standards and guidelines to support kinesiologist and well as protect the public, I feel that my experience can help foster these relationships and bring greater awareness to our profession. I also strongly believe that if we can share our experiences, we can make grow the profession. Overall, I believe that as kinesiologists, we have more to offer and I would be honored to be part of that process. Thank you,
Lynn Tougas

Candidacy Statement:

I am motivated to do more for the profession. Using my strong communications skills, experience and specialized educational background in communications studies, I feel I would be a strong advocator acting on behalf of the professional community at large. I enjoyed volunteering with the OKA very much during the exciting period of achieving our regulatory status during 2005-2007, however I feel that although this was an astounding achievement, more work still needs to be done to solidify our value to all stakeholders. Kinesiology and Health Science are not just my profession and passion in life, they are my life. What we do is what has kept me sane, thriving and healthy all of my life, long before I began studying my formal degree. I am forever grateful for the many gifts the science of human movement has given to me. I would like to instill this value of our profession into everything we do, paying special attention to ensuring all stakeholders feel and understand this same high value of our profession in unison. Having said this, how can I help you and our profession? This is my very open-ended question to ALL of YOU, as for the answers -- I am all ears. I can't wait to hear from all you and to be able apply everything there is within me I can to help grow our profession beyond our wildest dreams.

Candidacy Statement:

I have served on the College's board for District 5 since the Fall of 2017. Over this period, I have served on the ICRC committee, Patient Relations committee, Specialties committee, and currently serve as chair of the Registration committee. In other organizations I have served board member roles, as well as chair and vice-chair roles which have provided me the opportunity to learn and facilitate proper governance.

As a kinesiologist, I have practiced injury prevention, cardiometabolic rehabilitation, and now perform a supervisory role that builds the growth and development of current and future kinesiologists while managing a corporate wellness program. I also co-own a private practice that employs kinesiologists that serves the public in preventing and managing chronic health conditions. The ownership has taught me the intersection of financial, marketing, and clinical skills as well as the need and ability of regulated health professionals to protect the public.

I believe my experience with the College as well as my broad knowledge as a kinesiologist make me an ideal candidate to represent District 5 in the College’s mandate to protect the public. If elected, I look forward to continuing my service on committees and the board.
