Candidacy Statement:

I have a Master's of Science degree with 40 years of work experience and history working within Kinesiology. As the Chair of the Statutory Professional Practice committee for the Transitional Council for the College of Kinesiologist of Ontario, I helped create our original Professional Misconduct Regulations, Practice Standards, and Professional Guidelines. Our committee was also responsible for setting up our disciplines and hearings processes where I was trained by the Health Ministry and lawyers to conduct discipline hearing in accordance with the regulatory requirement of the Regulated Health Professions Act. I served on the original committee to help create our Professional Core Competencies and a subsequent committee that updated and revised the original Professional Core Competency Profile. I served on the Information Complaint and Reports Committee, Registration Committee and Patient Relations Committee. My professional work involves significant medical legal applications of Professional Kinesiology where I have helped establish jurisprudence as it relates to the delivery of our services. This has also afforded me substantial background and application in due process and fairness, essential skill sets for Board Members to be effective in running a Health Regulatory College. Equally important as my experience, is a historical connection and perspective that can be exceedingly useful for the College in dealing with the Governments of the day and in assisting College members in fulfilling their duties and regulatory obligations . It is my sense that our public protection mandate is only enhanced when our profession, particularly the delivery of our services and goods, is well understood by our stakeholders; government, other health care colleagues and collaborators, employers and members alike. To this end there remains both opportunity and challenges that the Board can productively focus and pursue to meet our public protection mandate. I look forward to providing my service in this regard.

Candidacy Statement:

To my fellow District 3 Kinesiologists,
I am running for a position on the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario council because I am interested in learning more about the inner workings of our College. Having served on both the Quality Assurance and the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committees, I have gained some insight into how the College sets and adheres to policies and strategic direction, ensuring the public is protected and Kinesiologists are held to the highest standard.
As much as I have grown as a professional and refined my practice since serving on these committees, I would like the opportunity to learn even more and to be a part of the continued growth of the profession. I can offer to the Council strong record-keeping abilities, collegial skills and a special interest in ethics.
It has been a pleasure to work with both professional and public committee members and to learn about the diversity of Kinesiology. I believe we each bring a unique set of knowledge, judgement and experience to the table and I look forward to the chance to share mine and learn from others.
Thank you.
Sue
