Poll: Parramatta Campus Council General Representative
BRACEWELL, Dane

Image for BRACEWELL, Dane
Dane Bracewell is a 2nd year Arts/Law student who recognises that the Parramatta campus has lost its way and is servery lacking in student life and participation programs. Cuts of $54.1m have been announced by the Commonwealth – the SCC needs to be involved in discussion with the university about the flow on effect of these cuts!

How is the SSAF used? – we saw recently that the reduced hours of the Study Hall was met with significant backlash from students – student backlash is how we keep what we value the most and improve vital student services.

At the same time, counselling services across the university are at an all-time low and student housing remains expensive and unaffordable. The university is growing rapidly – we need to ensure that ALL students are getting the best deal if their course is relocating over the next year.

My name is Rassol Haideri, I am a second-year finance student looking to gain your vote to become a General Rep for Paramatta’s 2018 Student Campus Council.
Reasons why you should consider me? I am already an active member of the 2017 Parramatta Student Campus Council and an assistant for 1PSQ’s Campus Life where I help run many of the exciting events they hold including but not limited to table tennis and video game tournaments as well as free snacks and pizza for students.
Above all else, I have no political agenda, I just want to help make students’ lives at campus a better one.

ROBINSON, Ashley

The university experience is unique to all students and for this reason it is important for the SCC to have variety in their representatives. I believe I provide some variety. As a fourth year student I have experienced being a full time on campus student, to balancing full time study with volunteering, and then full time work. Because of this I have been able to experience student life in day classes, night classes and online studies.

I believe that more needs to be done to promote social inclusion. Night students especially have very limited opportunities to get involved in the social life of universities. No student should be at a disadvantage of a whole experience just because they have to work during the day. More university run programs to allow students to develop their extra curricular interests and abilities need to be established.

SALEEM, Hassam

My name is Hassam Saleem, First year Master of Engineering student. I am nominating for one of the General Representative positions on Student Campus Councils. As your representative, I plan to be approachable to all students and diligently perform my duties to ensure the EWestern Sydney University is the best learning institution it can be for both current and future students. If elected, I plan to have an open platform where every student can express their concerns and accolades surrounding teaching, learning and research at the University to effect real change. I want to be your voice for the academic matters you face during your time at University and make your concerns and praise heard.
CHOGA, Wayne

I want to sit on the SCC because I believe I have a lot to offer in terms of where I want to see the SCC invest in student initiatives. I want to see big welfare days of action happening on campus that focus on services that students actually need and will use. For example, academic casework advice and subsidised breakfast bars for students struggling and doing it tough. We need to run campaigns that lobby both the government and the university to make textbooks cheaper for students. Attending university is expensive and students can often be set back through the extensive cost of textbooks, transport and the actual cost of degrees themselves. I will fight to change and fix this.
