The average quality and lifespan of consumer goods has dropped dramatically over the past several decades, for no better reason than to force the public to make more unneccessary purchases. This has also led to skilled artisans being disadvantaged in favour of factories employing poorly-trained and poorly-treated workers. An effort should be made to propagate better, longer-lasting goods, which resultingly create less waste and damage to the environment, which give their creators a independence and quality of life.
