I support public transport. I grew up in Scoresby, a particularly bad Public transport black hole. Public transport is good because it reduces traffic on the roads, making for a lower maintenance budget, better traffic flow, fewer accidents and deaths, lower polution and polution related diseases, e.g. asthma, and is cheaper than roads per person. This is before you consider environmental global effects.
Some questions I have are why do we say that Freeways should not be Tollways but don't hessitate to require Public transport to be self-funding?
Why are we happy to spend approx. AU$2 billion + on a freeway and not include public transport?
By the way, what do people think of cross-town traffic? seems to me the most urgent need for public transport is to change the radial system into a ring or grid system.
