When the framers of the Constitution debated the creation of the Constitution, they specifically didn't want to follow the US system to have a private company owning telecommunication. they made clear that postal and telecommunications was to be one Government Department as to ensure one rate throughout the Commonwealth of Australia. Also the Department to deal with employment and trucks needed for this department. Hence, the split of Telecom from Australian Post, and the later partial of Telstra (Telecom) is and remains unconstitutional!
