By Vesna PoljakE-poll's finger on the BigPulseThe Australian, 06 February 2001 www.theaustralian.com.au SYDNEY-based BigPulse has launched a new form of public opinion polling based on the principles of the stock exchange. BigPulse.com is a poll without a pollster, instead using a placard system to measure the importance of issues around the world. Visitors can vote for a placard a short opinion statement or submit one of their own. Issues compete for position on the issue meter ladder under a free market system. "Central to the technique is the elimination of the pollster," BigPulse founder Ralph McKay said. "This means it's free from personal, corporate or institutional bias and interference." "It's fascinating to watch. It's like seeing the thoughts of a collective intelligence." The company hopes to generate most of its revenue by leasing out the technology. |
