Broadcasters get their own automatic big issues poll Sydney October 8, 2001 - BigPulse.com launches BigPulse for Broadcasters. Radio stations can get their own automatic listener big issues poll within hours. Even the smallest station can afford it. BigPulse turns traditional polling on its head. It's the only poll to work automatically without a pollster - using no questions or surveys. BigPulse produces a live, coherent and concise expression of listener opinions, issues and ideas ranked by popular vote for all to see. Called "organic" polling, it was first used by the ACT Australian Democrats in May 2001. BigPulse is an Australian innovation. Two years in development a global patent is pending. Listeners set the agenda - all opinions heard It's a type of reverse poll that lets the people set the agenda. Broadcasters invite their listeners to submit opinions and ideas in the form of short statements called "placards". BigPulse creates a competitive environment with all placards competing daily for votes. Voting is secure and anonymous. The leaders quickly surface. People vote and submit opinions or ideas when they want - no waiting to be asked. Everyone has equal and immediate access to real time voting results. It's transparent direct democracy. All online listeners get a daily voice. Broadcasters are provided with online editorial access to their poll's placards. Inappropriate placards can be suppressed as required. Because organic polls work without questions they run continuously, without maintenance. New content is self-generating as issues and ideas are continually harvested from listeners. Broadcasters get a private space in the website www.bigpulse.com to host their organic polls. This includes a central permanent poll for local issues - the [Station Name] BigPulse. However other polls such as single issue polls and competition or favourites polls can be setup as required. Broadcasters with websites can link directly to their BigPulse. However broadcasters do not need a website because their polls run on the BigPulse servers, maintained by BigPulse engineers. Broadcasters can rebadge their BigPulse with their logo and colour theme to match their website. Other users The Australian Democrats ACT branch was the first political party to use BigPulse and invite the public to set the big issues agenda on the BigPulse public poll now known as the "Main Board". Leading website www.thefarmshed.com.au is now inviting members to vote in their new "Big Issues on the Land" BigPulse poll. Other users include councils, politicians and sports clubs. |
